At the occasion of its January Board of Directors meeting held at BAU, Munich, FEP – the European Parquet Federation - estimates that the overall consumption figure on the European parquet market for the year 2024 decreased by just under 5% compared to 2023. This evaluation should be considered as a preliminary forecast and is the result of the best estimates discussed with member country representatives. FEP emphasizes that this is a first forecast subject to variations - also between the North and the South of Europe - in anticipation of the complete data which will be communicated next June during the FEP General Assembly & Parquet Congress in Stockholm.
After a difficult year 2023 which was characterised by a dramatic fall in consumption, the market seems to have reached the bottom in 2024.
The parquet sector is expecting an upturn of the construction activity later in 2025 as well as, at a shorter term, the much-needed relief coming from the imposition of the provisional anti-dumping measures by the European Commission since 16 January 2025 against imports of the Multilayer Wood Flooring originating in China as published in the Official Journal of the EU on 15 January 2025.
